Covid-19 Announcement

“We understand the concern and questions many of you have regarding your pet(s) and how the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) could potentially impact them. We feel it is important to connect with you, to share information that can help put your mind at ease, and assure you we are staying on top of the emerging information as it becomes available.

For the health and well-being of our team members, clients, patients, and community, we ask that if your pet requires (or has) a routine appointment for vaccinations or heartworm, that these appointments be rescheduled on or after April 13th.

While we are still learning much in regards to the virus, we are confident that human-to-pet or pet-to-human transmission of COVID-19 is not likely. Meaning, should there at some point be exposure to COVID-19, it is not possible for you to catch coronavirus from your pet or for your pet to transmit the virus to you.

We are dedicated to being here for you and your pet.  In the event your pet is sick or in need of emergency care or surgery or requires ongoing medications…

Effective until Monday, April 6th, we will remain open with modified hours of operation as follows:
Monday to Thursday 8am- 4pm
We will be CLOSED Friday,  Saturday & Sundays

Please note: If your pet is scheduled for surgery in the next 3 weeks their surgical appointment will NOT be canceled.
We will require their discharge appointment the day of surgery to happen before 4pm when our office closes.

As a matter of good health, we do urge you to follow recommended sanitation and hygiene practices any time you interact with a pet.

Other important points we’d like to share:
• The disinfectants we use year-round are effective against Coronavirus. As a healthcare practice, we have routine processes in place to stop disease transmission in pets.
• We have increased the frequency of disinfecting client touchpoints (i.e. bathrooms, doorknobs, etc.)
• While we warmly welcome everyone, we will refrain from handshakes until this threat has passed.
• Our dedicated team members have been advised to remain at home if they are running a fever or if a family member is suspected of having COVID-19.

As more information becomes available, we will keep you up to date.  If your pet requires attention, please do not hesitate to contact us at (519) 681-4377.

Also, follow our updates on Facebook.

Warm regards, Dr. Firth & the TEAM @ FIRTH Veterinary Hospital”
